[1] Maastricht General Assembly Report

Commission C had 6 C sessions, 11 joint sessions, and one tutorial session, totaling 18 sessions. The main themes of the sessions are:

(1) Software radio systems,

(2) Antenna array and signal processing,

(3) MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) systems,

(4) Broadband wireless technology,

(5) Mobile radio and propagation.

The number of the joint sessions is increasing and the themes are expanding, reflecting the recent trend of communications and electronics technology.

Commission C had three business meetings during the General Assembly period, where the themes dealt with the future Commission C and Terms of Reference were discussed, and the next vice-chair was elected. The main conclusions we had are:

(1) Somewhat expended region of the themes of Commission C was recognized.

(2) The new Terms of Reference should be "Radio Communication Systems and Signal Processing" instead of the former "Signals and Systems."

(3) The next vice-chair is Dr. A. F. Molisch (Austria).

The 2004 International Symposium on Signals, Systems, and Electronics (2004 ISSSE) will be held in Linz (Austria) in the summer of 2004, now being prepared. The symposium chair will be Prof. R. Weigel (Germany).

During the General Assembly, "Review of Radio Science" has been published. This publication describes an important achievement in the field of Commission C during the last three years and is the results of invaluable devotion of all authors. The chapter of Commission C consists of three themes as follows:
