10. We had the steering committee meeting from 9AM to 12AM in January 31st, 2004.

11. Conclusion by the local arrangement

(a) This scientific workshop is organized with the objective of gmigration of different research regions dedicated for radio systems h. Based on the objective, speakers for the MMW imaging, the next generation radio communication and the digital TV were invited for this workshop. The workshop was very successful with 79 attendees and very tight discussions for future radio techniques. As the objective, cross-functional discussions were done on several research regions (AP:Antenna and Propagation, MW:MicroWave,and RCS: Radio Communication Systems).

(b) For keeping the good direction of the discussion as in this scientific workshop, following criteria is agreed in the steering committee:

- Main topic/concept should be decided for each workshop,

- Based on the topic/concept, speakers are invited from the technical region of AP/MW/RCS.

11. Concluding Remarks

 (a) This scientific workshop was organized based on the keyword gONKOCHISHINh, meaning in Chinese that attempts to discover new things by studying the past through scrutiny of the old. As this keyword implies, lectures included in this workshop lied on various aspects of telecommunication technology from the history of R&D on electro-magnetism to the latest topic towards the future mobile communication systems.

 (b) Q&A slots over 30 minutes following each lecture for Q&A animated quite intensive discussions.

 

 

 

 

3. The 3rd Scientific Workshop on Radio Signal and Systems

10. The steering committee meeting took place from 11h00 to 12h00 and from 16h30 to 17h15 on 20 July,2004.

11. Concluding Remarks

(a) This scientific workshop was organized based on the keyword "Radio Waves, from Northern Country." As this keyword implies, the workshop laid emphasis on a various researches by top researchers in Hokkaido prefecture. The topics included recent progress on fiber optics and multiple antenna signal processing technology. In addition role of mobile communications for local promotion was discussed. The meeting was very successful with 35 attendees and very tight discussions.

(b) Only afternoon sessions were scheduled in the meeting. Q&A slots seemed to be slightly short, however, we had quite intensive discussions.

11. Concluding Remarks

 This scientific workshop was organized based on the keyword gRadio Waves and Challenge to the Shannon Limit.h As this keyword, the specialists of modulation and demodulation were invited. The meeting was very successful with 25 attendees and the discussions after each presentation were well activated. Mr. Otafs presentation especially, in which he says he can make the bandwidth half by his modulation scheme, made the discussions of everybody hot as the Spa of Yufuin is.
