3. Others

A. Appeal against Power Line Communication (PLC) System

National Comm. of Astronomy discussed the problem on PLC system, which is planned to introduce in Japan, and approved an appeal against the introduction of the PLC system.  Sub-committee on Frequency Managements provided summary of possible RFI.  The Committee calls attention to other Committees to collaborate, in particular to our Committee.

B. gControlled Emission Zoneh discussed in OECD/GSF/TF

The deployment of new low Earth orbiting telecommunication satellites could have a major adverse impact on the future of radio astronomy.  In 1999, the Forum recommended the establishment of an informal Task Force to explore the issues and options associated with radio frequency spectrum issues in radio astronomy.  The Task Force would like to establish a committee of technical experts from the industrial and scientific communities, under the aegis of URSI.
