Electrical, electronic, and communication engineering (EECE, in short), which is one of the most important branches of engineering in our modern world,
has played a central role in the revolutionary development of industry in Japan until now,
and then has a growing impact on people in Japan with its benefits filtered into all parts of society.
Especially, as everybody knows, our everyday living in Japan cannot be thought
without any of electric power supplies, telecommunications services, electrical and electronic appliances and various systems
which microprocessors, micro-computers or computers are built in or connected to.
-
The EECE consists of electric power engineering, communication engineering, and electronics,
as well as other related fields such as computer technology with applications, information processing with applications, and robots and control engineering.
Electronics covers semiconductor engineering, opto-electronics, IC and VLSI circuit technologies, electronic material engineering, and consumer electronics.
Communication engineering includes hot topics of multimedia mobile communications, mobile computing and wireless internets.
Electric power engineering includes recent topic of ultrahigh temperature plasma technology for treatment of hazardous waste,
which is one of the most serious environmental issues to be solved.
In solving air pollution problems, the EECE has so far played an important role.
Today, the area covered by EECE is still rapidly expanding by inventing original and innovative theories and technologies,
from fundamentals to practical applications,
for creating new industries and products in pursuit of a highly advanced information and communication society in which people can lead affluent, stable and secure lives.
-
The aim of the EECE Course of the Facaulty of Science and Engineering Science and Engineering at Chuo University is
to nurture leading engineers, researchers, and technology professionals,
as many as possible, who are competent to work actively at the forefront of R&D activities in the areas of electrical, electronic, and communication engineering and its related technologies.
